ABOUT THE DEAD SEA
At 400 meters below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest point on Earth. Forming part of the Great African Rift Valley between the Judean hills and the Moab Mountains, the Dead Sea's History goes back thousands of years. King David used it as a refuge, King Herod was one of the first to use it as a Health Resort and Queen Cleopatra saw the benefits the minerals had both for pharmaceutical and cosmetic uses.
Today, thousands of tourists come every year to experience the health benefits the Dead Sea and its surroundings have to offer.
In addition, there are many sites of historical and natural interest in the area such as the Qumran National Park, where in 1947 the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, and the ancient Fortress at Massada.
Participants should book their flights to Ben Gurion International Airport (near Tel Aviv) with their travel agent, or directly on the internet. Direct flights to Tel Aviv exist from most major airports in North America, Europe, India, China, Thailand, Brazil and Africa by El Al Israel Airlines, as well as by other international carriers.
